Our committees are the driving force behind our industry advocacy, safety initiatives, and professional networking, providing a platform for members to directly shape the future of rail in Texas. Safety Committee
The Safety Committee is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of operational security and workplace health across the Texas rail network. We act as a vital resource for members by facilitating the exchange of life-saving information, championing proactive safety measures, and ensuring that our industry remains a leader in protecting our employees, the public, and the vital infrastructure we maintain.

Best Practice Exchange
Facilitate a collaborative forum for member railroads to share safety data, incident learnings, and innovative strategies to mitigate operational risks. -
Safety Education & Training
Develop and provide specialized educational resources and workshops focused on current safety protocols and emerging industry hazards. -
Regulatory Advocacy
Monitor and advise on state and federal safety regulations, ensuring the interests of Texas short lines are represented in the development of industry standards. -
Public Safety Outreach
Partner with safety organizations and local communities to promote rail safety awareness, focusing on grade crossing security and trespasser prevention.
Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee consists of government affairs and leadership for Texas short lines and works closely with the Marketing Committee when efforts are needed to engage membership.
The Committee is focused on issues directly impacting Texas short line railroads, including:
- Creating state level funding opportunities for the short line railroad industry
- Working with TXDOT to push partnership for federal grant programs
- Opposing increases in truck size and weight on Texas roads and guarding against unnecessary crew size mandates
- Educating our Texas elected officials by helping member railroads and supplier organizations host grassroots political events in Texas to showcase the importance of Texas railroads to the state economy and how federal policies can influence future opportunities
Events Committee
The Events Committee is responsible for bringing the TSLRRA community together through high-impact networking and educational experiences. We specialize in the end-to-end planning and execution of association gatherings, ensuring each event provides maximum value, fosters professional connections, and supports the overall growth of our industry.

Program Planning & Logistics
Concept, schedule, and manage all logistics for TSLRRA events, ranging from regional meetups to annual conferences and workshops. -
Venue & Vendor Management
Identify and secure appropriate venues, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with external vendors to ensure seamless event delivery. -
Sponsorship & Revenue Coordination
Collaborate with partners and sponsors to secure funding and resources that enhance the event experience and support association goals. -
On-Site Execution
Provide dedicated on-site leadership and coordination to ensure events run smoothly, safely, and professionally for all attendees.
Membership Committee
The TSLRRA Membership Committee is dedicated to fostering a strong, engaged, and growing community by actively recruiting new members and serving the needs of our current participants to strengthen the voice of the Texas rail industry. Emphasizing a relationship-driven approach rooted in honesty and integrity, the committee ensures that the association remains a premier advocate for short line and regional railroad interests. To maintain a balanced perspective and share the workload effectively, the committee consists of a minimum of five members, including at least one representative from a railroad.

Marketing & Communications Collaboration
Partner with the Marketing and Communications Committee to develop and promote compelling messaging that showcases the unique value of TSLRRA to prospective members. -
Operational Support
Assist with the membership registration and renewal process, providing guidance and support to ensure a seamless experience for all participants. -
Database & Retention Management
Maintain an accurate membership database by updating profiles and implementing strategies to retain current members through high-quality, ethics-based service.
Marketing Committee
The Marketing Committee is the creative engine of TSLRRA, dedicated to elevating our brand and strengthening our community. We serve as the primary bridge between the association and our members, ensuring that our mission is communicated effectively through strategic content production, dynamic social media engagement, and the continuous evolution of our digital presence.

Maintain and protect the TSLRRA visual identity and voice across all platforms to ensure a professional and cohesive brand image. -
Content Strategy & Production
Develop engaging, high-quality content—including newsletters, articles, and graphics—that provides value to our members and the industry. -
Digital Presence Management
Oversee the functional and aesthetic updates of the official TSLRRA website and manage all social media channels to drive engagement. -
Member Outreach & Growth
Implement strategic marketing campaigns designed to enhance member relationships, attract new recruits, and promote association events.
Requirements for Committee Involvement
We are looking for passionate individuals ready to turn ideas into action. To ensure the success of our initiatives, we ask that all committee members meet the following criteria:

Active Standing
Must be an employee of a TSLRRA member company in good standing. (membership dues current)

Time Commitment
Ability to dedicate approximately 5–10 hours per month to committee meetings, projects, and collaborative efforts.(varies, based on committee)
